Objectify Me

People want so badly to have all the beauty of all the models in Hollywood.

But when you put it all together, there's nothing beautiful about it, at all.

So, today, while listening to the radio, I heard an advertisment about this . First I just laughed. What a stupid idea.

Then I thought about it.

What chauvenistic bullshit.

There's enough pressure on women today as it is, what with facial plastic surgery, breast implants, lyposuction, laser hair removal, etc etc. Women as a whole are constantly reminded, through television, through magazines, through billboards and radio that they MUST retain an absolute being of perfection to be even remotely acceptable as a human being.

What's the first thing you think of when you see a well dressed woman with nice hair, great shoes and beautiful jewlery? Be honest with yourselves. "Wow, what a great sense of fashion, I wish I looked like her."

What's the first thing you think of when you see a woman with ripped jeans, a white t-shirt and messy hair? "Good grief, did you LOOK at yourself when you got dressed this morning? How disgraceful."

No, I value the woman who has the dignity and self respect to wake up in the morning and dress in whatever the fuck she wants, because she knows that she is beautiful by her OWN standards.

Fuck todays chauvenistic oppression; all it is, is
You're hair isn't shiney or long enough
Your nose is too big, your lashes are too short, your eyebrows are too bushy, your lips are too thin, your armpits are too hairy, your breasts are too small, your waist is too wide, your stomach isn't flat enough, your hips aren't curvy enough, your ass is too small, your legs are too short, they're not slender enough, your ankles aren't delicate enough, your feet are too rough, your toenails are too long, your fingernails are too short, your colors don't match, those shoes don't match, that sweater doesn't go, that skirt looks terrible....

Need I go on? The sniddy and picky details of a woman are picked down to every detail that can be imagined.

What irritates me more is that these "surguries" claim to give women a higher sense of self, more confidence, like they fit better in the world.

Well why do you fucking think? Their whole life, they've had all this bullshit about needing to be beautiful, needing to be the right size, needing to be appealing to society as a whole. And now they feel like they're fullfilling their needs. Didn't you ever hear a story about a kid who wanted to be in a group of friends, but they said "You can only join if you look like this, talk like this, and do these things". Do you remember thinking "No, don't do that! You want to be around people who accept you for who you are!". Said child does as s/he is told, and is in fact happy with their new friends for so long. But we all know it's only an outer happiness. An immediate happiness. One that will fade once you look back and realize what a sacrifice you made for people who never really mattered to begin with. This is the exact. Same. Thing.

Beauty is not beautiful.
